Things that please me on a Monday afternoon:

1. Foo Fighters vs. Westborough Baptist Church

The crazies from Westborough Baptist Church (famous for hateful protests at the funerals for gay soldiers) decided to protest the Foo Fighters concert in Kansas City. They dressed up as hillbillies and gave the protestors an impromtu concert about “man muffins.” Fantastic.  Can read the HuffPost article here.

2. Emily Ann Interiors Blog

Stumbled across this home design blog – it’s a combination of DIY projects and a scrapbook of ideas. It makes me so happy, but also so sad because I am not crafty and am too poor to buy crafty. Check her out.

3. CSS, Hits Me Like a Rock

No video, but good song.

Having to constantly defend the US sometimes makes me weary. Feels good when the States gets something very right.

“Rather than allow unmarried people or same-sex couples to adopt or foster children, Catholic Charities of Rockford, Illinois announced Thursday that they would stop providing fostercare services.”

"Well, THAT was stupid."

Just a little flashback to what Mardi Gras USED to be like when Fuller and Karen didn’t abandon me for exotic vacays.

I couldn’t show my face without them.  One lone bee? That’s ridiculous.

This past weekend was Sydney’s Pride Day: Mardi Gras , aka MY FAVORITE DAY OF THE YEAR. Why? Behold:

Do you understand? These people are the SPECTATORS. They dress like this to WATCH. It’s GLORIOUS.

More spectator pics can be found on Craig Jewell Photography.

This year I watched the parade alone from my couch, it was horribly depressing. I just couldn’t bring myself to go without a costume, and my partners in crime abandoned me for the weekend. Sigh.

From my living room, the parade looked pretty fabulous, and I, of course, got emotional and cried my face off like twelve different times.

There was an article on CNN.com today about a  pastor who reprimanded a mother who was a church member over a blog post she wrote called, “My Son Is Gay.”

The mom had allowed her five year old son to dress as a female cartoon character for Halloween, and caught a lot of shit from other moms. The blog post is her response to them defending her actions.

Anyways, the article was boring, but her original blog post was pretty awesome – read it here.

PS. She’s married to a cop!
