…. there have been a few changes.

1) On August 31, Nick and I got married in my parents’ backyard in Hampden. It was pretty much the best ever. I’ll do a whole post on it another day, because I wouldn’t want to deny you guys the crafting bonanza that was our wedding day. Plus, we looked super good:

2) We adopted a baby. Her name is Biggie Smalls.

This is back when we got her in April when she was only a little baby. She’s bigger (well, rounder) now. I’m 100% obsessed with her – and if you’re not, than I’m really not sure we have anything to talk about.

3) I got a fringe! The last time I had a fringe I was four and it was for school picture day at preschool and my mom cut it into a downward facing point. NO AMOUNT OF VELVET DRESSES WITH LACE COLLARS COULD SAVE THAT PICTURE DAY! (She tried).

4) I’ve switched job roles and am now looking after Bauhaus Hair, a salon that is part of the group… thus the excellent, non-pointy fringe.

Yep, big changes. Plus I’m madly scheming to make over our house one room at time. Once the wedding was over I found myself without a PROJECT, and I can’t have that. It’s either renovate or get knocked up, and babies are sticky.

Let’s see, top 5 in big news from me these days…

1) Hair Expo 2012

I’ve written before about Hair Expo, the Australian hairdressers’ national pilgrimage to Sydney’s Convention Centre, for all things sparkly and loud. Last weekend, as we do every year, my company went full throttle with two live demo workshops, two main stage performances, a stand in the Expo hall, and a runway show to open up the Sunday Night Gala (seriously, every night is a “gala”… hairdressers.)

It’s always entertaining, but this was especially fun. I got some good pics, and the students show was truly spectacular – very profesh, if I do say so myself.

And in case it’s not clear from above, yes I am THE most annoying person backstage.

2)  New Music

Obsessed with this song, heard it once and instantly loved:

3) Balmain – the suburb, not the brand (okay, I like the brand, too)

I can keep dreaming, though. One of those adorable cottages retails for about the same amount as my hometown.

4) Engagement Party

Nick and I had our engagement party with Sydney friends a few weeks back. I do feel that the resulting hangover is a legitimate excuse for my month long absence. It was an amazing time, but it took some serious work to recover from that.

To give you an idea: at 6am on the day following our party, you could find me, Nick, Lara Fuller, Alex and his partner Nathan dancing to Justin Bieber’s “Boyfriend” on repeat in Alex’s living room, drinking champagne straight from the bottle. So.

Anyways, we looked classy earlier on, no? We are MASTERS OF DISGUISE.

The Swiss ❤

The sisters

The Fullers!

The Beaths

The people who don’t understand when it’s time for the party to end

We really did have such a blast, and it was so amazing to have everyone there celebrating with us. Considering breaking up and get re-engaged, just to have another party like that.

5) Akita puppies

I don’t need a reason for this.

Courtesy of Passion About Design who just put in a showroom around the corner from my home. That’s like building a casino next to gambling addict.

It’s something about the black/green yellow/blue combinations that I love.

Here, have a song.

They kinda like an Australian Vampy Weekend.

I haven’t been writing, I know. Whatever. I don’t have anything cool to say.

I’m pretty sure it’s not a big deal because a freak snow storm disabled the power in the Northeastern US, thus cutting me off from my core readership (hi mom!).

Here are the top exciting things that happened over the last two weeks:

1) I went to Culburra on the  South Coast for a weekend away with Nick’s family which was amazing.

Drive through booze.

The population of Culburra is 3500 - to put this in perspective, the population of Hampden is 5100. Does that stop them from having a drive through liquor store in the center of town? I love Australia.

2) I developed an obsession with Prezi and made my first presentation for the Funk Up Your Head 2012 comp. I have a deep-rooted hatred for Power Point, and now I will quite happily never use it again. Actually, corporate imposter confessions, until this year when I had to make one for my boss I successfully avoided ever using it despite it being shoved down my throat at every juncture of my education.

3)  Discovered a bad ass marinade recipe that I love. Here you go, you’re welcome:

Asian Beef Skewers

3 tablespoons hoisin sauce
3 tablespoons sherry
1/4 cup soy sauce
1 teaspoon barbecue sauce
2 green onions, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger root
1 1/2 pounds flank steak
skewers

4)  Found out Shiraz causes bronchitis. True science fact. My filthy cough is proof.
